Interested in getting into the music industry? Here is an interview we recently did with Kris James, an upcoming singer-songwriter from Liverpool. His new single, Naïve, is released on June 5th.
Tell us a little bit about you:
I am Kris James from a little town in Liverpool called Kirkby. I am a singer-songwriter and all round crazy guy!
How did you start your music career and do you have any tips for young people looking to make it in the industry?
I got into music by being spotted in Liverpool by a music manager who then sent me to London for some auditions for record labels and I got my first deal when I was 19.
My advice to young people trying to get into the music industry would be persistence is key. If you get a no don’t give up, just keep on going and make sure that you are seen by as many people as possible, and make sure you are uploading loads of great material to your socials because lots of people are looking these days for new talent. My experience is lots of artists don’t have the patience and you have to have this to see the end goal. You will get your dreams if you keep going in what you believe in.
Do you have any exciting news to share?
Lots of exciting news! I have a new single out in June with an album to follow throughout this year and a couple of tours that are TBC, but unfortunately due to Covid-19 everything is on hold at the moment but however music is definitely about to come out very soon.
During self-Isolation, a lot of people are using music to stay positive. Do you have a song of the week that people can use as a pick-me-up?
My top tips for keeping happy in isolation are, make sure you keep to a daily routine, this is very important. Get up, get washed, do your workout, plan your day. If you’re a musician, write some lyrics down, make some nice food.
My favourite song for getting myself going in the morning is ‘I’m walking on sunshine’ by Katrina and the waves! Other than that, one of my own songs to stay positive and motivated is ‘Get Back To Love’.
