Everyone approaches our Freshers Festivals in a different way, whether they’re in it for the freebies, scouting for new haunts or just hanging out with friends. To celebrate the diversity of our student attendees, we’ve sat down, meditated, and divined the spirit animals that will guide you on your journeys.

The Lion

If you’re attending this year’s Freshers Festivals in a big group of brand new BFFs; if you’re ready to devour every opportunity, and every freebie, then your spirit animal just might be the king of the jungle. The lion hunts in packs, forging close bonds with its pride as it roams across the freshers savannah, every member has their eyes peeled for the best stalls, and nobody gets left behind.

The Bear

Winter is coming, and the bear must eat its fill while food is plentiful. Freshers Festival has a huge array of restaurants and food stalls to satisfy even the biggest appetite, and if you’re up for the challenge, your spirit animal is certainly the bear. Eat your fill, bears, there’s no where else you will get so much free food in one place for the rest of the year.

The Salmon

You know where we’re going with this. For the salmon, drink isn’t a mere tasty freebie: it’s the essence of life itself. The 2021 Freshers Festivals will have the best selection of drinks yet, and with the waters running deep we’re expecting plenty of fish. That’s why you’ll be wanting the salmon as your guide, nobody’s better at fighting the tides than this tough fish. But we won’t make any spawning jokes. What you do afterwards is your own business.

The Lone Wolf

Arriving alone, the wolf is swift to identify its targets. The wolf isn’t afraid to observe particpating brands from the safety of the crowd, looking for opportunities before moving in for the kill. The lone wolf knows that bars are for socialising and Freshers Festival is about making the most of the bountiful stalls, and the lone wolf never leaves hungry. Sound like you? Then God speed, focussed friend.

The Butterfly

You’ve made dozens of friends in your first week of uni. You’ve got your halls friends, your course mates, the bar crawlers and that girl you met at the SU shop. You’re already on Freshers’ Instagram, checking on who’s going to be at the events this year, and you’re ready to link up with all of them. Yup, you’re definitely our social butterfly.

The Eagle

If you’re loathe to get down and dirty in the crowds, and prefer a vantage point (or at least a map) to identify the stalls you want to visit: then the eagle is your spirit guide. As well as its ability to rise above the crowd, the eagle dives quickly when an opportunity presents itself, meaning you’re always ready when a new event kicks off.

The Tortoise

While others rush to find their freebies, or hone in on the brand they love, those guided by the tortoise aren’t afraid of taking their sweet time. Unconcerned by crowds, and only ready to visit those stalls that interest them most, these visitors soak up every square foot of the fair: and you can guarantee they won’t miss a single thing.shutterstock_164189540
